Gillian Haven creates tender and evocative images in oil paint and pencil. She finds inspiration in the landscape near at hand and the children, animals and plants that flourish there. Many of them find their way into her quilt paintings which suggest the multi-faceted nature of our interior landscape. Her artwork searches an impermanent and shifting world for fleeting moments of illumination and grace.
Gillian Haven is a native of Amherst, Massachusetts. She has lived in California, Virginia and Puerto Rico and now lives and works in Pelham, Massachusetts. She received a BA from Bennington College (1976) and attended St Martin’s School of Art, London (1975).
